Golden or California poppy is native to California where it grows almost everywhere - even within reach of salt water spray! These flowers are easy to grow. The seed is sown in September or March where the plants are to grow. The flowers range from golden yellow to pink and white and are up to 3 inches across. The plants grow to 2 feet tall. The leaves are small and feathery looking.

Grains of Eschscholzia are subspheroidal to subprolate; the amb circular and 4-5-(6)-colpate. The colpi are long and narrow and the opercula is granular. The sexine is reticulate.
